Dunaliella Salina Powder

Dunaliella salina, also known as Dunaliella algae, is a salt-loving green microalgae. It is commonly found in saline environments, such as salt pans and salt flats.
 
Dunaliella salina is known for its exceptional antioxidant capacity, as it can produce a large amount of beta-carotene, which is a type of carotenoid. Due to this characteristic, it is frequently used in cosmetics and dietary supplements.
 
Very few organisms can survive in such high salinity conditions, like those found in salt evaporation ponds.
 
To adapt and thrive in such environments, these organisms have developed protective mechanisms, including high concentrations of beta-carotene to shield against strong light and high concentrations of glycerol to protect against osmotic stress.
 
Because of its unique color, Dunaliella salina can give the water it inhabits a reddish or pinkish hue. For instance, in the Retba Lake, located about 35 kilometers north of the capital of Senegal, West Africa, the presence of Dunaliella salina turns the lake's water into a distinctive pink color, earning it the nickname "Pink Lake."
